Life Beyond the Village by Isquiesque Life Beyond the Village by Isquiesque
I've seen this view when the light was just perfect. And I mean perfect. I was going to point out how perfect to the person I was with, but before I could say anything he stopped in his tracks and said, "Damn. Look at that."

It was that perfect.

But I didn't have my camera.

And for the next two days I visited the same spot a dozen times at various times of day trying for that same shot.

It never came, but this wasn't a bad runner-up.

I've been away a very long time from dA... too long. Just now got your comment.

It's one of my favorite places, this little village. Thank you for your comment!

Very beautiful photo. The only "advanced" critique I can offer is that I find it sad, that you cut off that coffee/book shop's sign.

I'm also curious how it would have looked on a sunny day (but that is hardly something we can control ;) )

Hm... Thanks very much for the comment - I'll have to go dig out the original and see if that's a product of cropping or if it was that way when I took it.

And yes, I'm still holding out for the perfect light in that shot. I'll visit that spot and try again one of these days. Unfortunately I live about 4000 miles from here, so it'll be another year or so before I get the chance.

I just adore such places. You know.. I'm not fascinated of big cities- with their steel and glass..
But a view like that would certainly stay in my mind forever..

I try to go when I can - my (soon to be) parents-in-law live there. It's about 4,000 miles from where I live, though, so I won't get to go that often now that my fiancÚ is moving to Alaska to be with me. I highly recommend it - place has some nice little bed & breakfasts, couple of cozy bookstores (one of which has a pretty decent coffeeshop in it), several pubs (two of which are really great and have been in the business of brewing beer since the seventeenth century) and lots and lots of lovely hill walking. Except for the gas station and the a couple of the grocery stores, everything is locally run and not national franchise and very small townish and just wonderful. There are also a couple of old museums and the ruins of the original castle, though there's not much of the ruins left.

bookstores! coffeshop! ruins!
Oh you've cast a spell over me! :) :faint:

Your life seems to be very interesting.. not only by leaving on Alaska [what sounds intriguing].

Hm, it's just my life, but yeah, I guess I get around more than some folks do. :)

By the way, I really like your icon. It's quite distinctive. Did you draw it? Is it from something larger?
